  1. Lauren, this was so neat to hear about what OT's role is with wheelchair positioning. It was good that you pointed out that this setting is more of a preparatory service, and education on prevention of pressure sores is another important part. Although you may not have engaged in occupation focused therapy, you were a part of a really neat and important role which is preparing the client for good body mechanics (to engage in occupations), educating the client, and preventing any harm such as pressure sores. This type of OT setting seems beneficial, and I bet that you learned SO much to take into any future setting. I mentioned your thorn as my bud. I as well feel as if I could use some more work on understanding diagnoses and which interventions are most appropriate for each diagnoses. I can not wait to hear more about your experience, thanks for sharing!

  2. Lauren,

I am happy you got to experience this "unconventional" setting in occupational therapy because it gives you an idea of what some of the more unique settings you may be interested in! Even if you never work in an area like this one, seating and positioning are an integral part of occupational therapy practice. Without proper positioning, it is very difficult for our clients to engage in their occupations. I would love to hear more about this when we get back on campus! Thanks for sharing.
